3 Reasons Why Your Pest Control Business Needs A Website

Having a website for your pest control business will set you apart from most of the other pest control companies in your area.

Let me re-phrase that… Having a clean, professional-looking website will set you apart from 95% of your competitors.

3 Reasons Why Your Pest Control Business Needs A Website

  1. First of all, most pest control businesses do not have a website, and most of the ones that do have a website are hoky-looking and would be better off without one. Yes, I really do believe that no website is better than a crappy-looking website.
  2. Most people nowadays look at a company’s website to see if the company looks legit, and they base their decision on whether or not the company is legit 100% on what their impression of the website is…. that’s pretty important.
  3. Yes, even for something like pest control, customers are going online to find what they’re looking for. If you don’t accept this and respond accordingly, you’ll be left behind.

But back to having a professional-looking website…

There are two ways to do it:

  1. Have a website designed and built for you…or
  2. Build it yourself

Either way can work.

Thanks to technology, it is possible for a amateur to learn as he goes and build a quality, great-looking site.

And, some people value just paying a professional a few hundred bucks and having it done and out of the way in a matter of weeks.

If you even think you can figure it out, I would build it yourself. You’ll have total control over the process, and the skills of web design and seo that you’ll learn will become priceless as our world becomes more web-based.

My 2 Recommendations About Getting Your Pest Control Website Site Put Together

Okay, to make this very simple, here is a little guide to what products and services you should use to build your site: (if you want a detailed explanation behind these rankings, just keep reading.)

On a scale of 1-10 of web-savviness…1 means you can barely open your email and turn your computer on, a 5 means you can zip through Facebook, Google, and the internet in general without getting confused, and higher than a 8 means you are familiar with html and have possibly done some web design.

So….

If you consider yourself a:

1-4: Use Site Build It.

5-9: Use Hostgator and a premium Worpress theme.

I’m not saying you have to learn html or learn how to code… not even close.

The first website I ever built, I used Site Build It. SBI is an all-in-one package that includes hosting, all the training you’ll ever need, all the tools you’ll ever need, and it includes email marketing software. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, you WILL want to get a email marketing service, and when you pay for one on its own, it is $20-$30 a month, which is the same price as SBI that includes everything.

That being said, there are some drawbacks to SBI. The main one being the design of your site. SBI sites are based on templates, and while they are customizable and there’s hundreds to choose from, they are, in the end, templates.

You can’t really make a 100% custom SBI site. But it sure is easy, and there are high-quality video trainings that teach you every single step of every single process.

Using SBI I learned all the necessary skills to go on and build my own custom sites with WordPress.

Now when I build a site, I always use Hostgator and get a premium WordPress theme from Mojo Themes.

Good luck with building your site… leave any questions in the comments.
